Almeda Galasso Obituary

Galasso, Almeda Maxine 88, went home to be with Our Lord on Friday April 19, 2019. Almeda was born Almeda Maxine Harrison October 12, 1930 in Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania to Howard Heritage Harrison and Violet Dehner. She was one of 10 children from a second marriage. To family and friends and to all that knew her she was just known as “Maxine” Maxine met and married Frank Paul Galasso on August 16, 1952 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church Jersey City NJ. Together they raised three daughters. They lived to celebrate 25 years of marriage together. Frank worked at the United States Post Office as a Mail Handler and was a member of the Union Local 300 of the National Mail Handlers Union. Maxine worked at various jobs during her life time, later in life she however, worked as a florist arranger arranging beautiful bouquets and other assorted flower arrangements for all occasions. A real true artist when it came to doing these bouquets and arrangements. She also worked at Publix in the bakery department. A loving devoted wife and mother she was most proud of being known as a Girl Scout Leader for the New Jersey Girl Scout Counsel. Maxine was a great artist especially with oil and canvas; she could do wonders with a brush in her hand and painted some of the most beautiful oil paintings just like a real professional artist would paint. Maxine was from Clarion, Penn, Jersey City, NJ, Iselin, NJ and retired to Spring Hill, Florida in 1994. One thing about Maxine that everyone knew about her is that she loved her cups of coffee especially in the morning. She just couldn’t live without that good second cup of coffee. Maxine is preceded in death by her husband Frank Paul Galasso, her parents Howard Heritage Harrison and Violet Dehner and her 8 siblings, Dorothy Mead, Minnie Ansel, Sarah Bushinski, Luella “Bell” Mullen, Gerald Deane Harrison, Kenneth Willard Harrison Sr., Evenlyn Emogene Petrowski, and Clarence Russell Harrison. Maxine is survived by her 3 daughters, Margaret Ann Galasso of Spring Hill, Florida, Cynthia Marie Kanyo, (son-law) Stephen Kanyo of Edison, NJ and Brenda Carol Galasso of Spring Hill, Florida, and brother Walter Heritage Harrison Sr. of Malin, Oregon. Maxine has many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Maxine will be cremated and her ashes will be interred at Saint Gertrude Roman Catholic Cemetery, Colonia, NJ beside her husband Frank. At a later date to be arranged there will be a private memorial/life celebration at First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill, Florida. A repast will be arranged back at Maxine’s home in Spring Hill, Florida. The family wishes to thank the follow people and organizations for their help and concerns in helping to care for Maxine during her last days.
